Snow in Sahara Desert For the First Time Since 1979

20 DECEMBER 2016

It is first time snow has fallen on the unforgiving red dunes in almost 40 years.

An astonishing and impressive sight was captured by Geoff Robinson. “Everyone was stunned to see snow falling in the desert; it is such a rare occurrence,” Mr Bouchetata told.“It looked amazing as the snow settled on the sand and made a great set of photos. The snow stayed for about a day and has now melted away.”
